Coto island is a pristine destination for tourists who love adventure and wild nature. The island attracts thousands of tourists each year. However, it’s a little difficult for tourists who want to stay in hotels because there are not many hotels here. There are some guest-houses for tourists to stay and enjoy the beautiful nature of Coto.
Our first destination is Hong Van beach. The beach is so beautiful that there’s hardly a word can describe it. The long white sandbanks stretch endlessly, hundred yards of colorful coral reefs are easily to be seen through the limpid water. With an islet nearby blocking strong winds from the sea, the water in this area is calm and vividly like a mirror.
After a swim, we will head to Van Chai beach on the west of the island, which appeals to you immediately with pebbles, rocks of different shapes and colors at either ends of the beach. The middle of the beach is flat, the sand here is clean and smooth, and it also offers the best site on the island to watch the sunset.
Tourists to Coto can enjoy the calm and relaxing atmosphere while admire the beauty of very original nature without any interference of vendors. Also, the local here are very friendly and welcome.
Then tourists can visit a beautiful view of a port here. The long wharf of the Bac Van military port has not welcomed any ship for a long time, and this lonely spot has been very famous to photographers.
If you stroll along the beach at night, you can see young kids and islanders catching crab, mantis shrimp and squid… And, of course, we can buy the fresh seafood while people are catching them at very cheap price.
Another Coto’s attraction is the lighthouse that was built in the 19th century. Standing on top of this building, you can see the full view of the island as well as the nearby “Little Coto” and Thanh Lan islands.
Back to the town center, tourists can visit the statue of President Ho Chi Minh built in 1968 to commemorate the day he visited the island. As a humble and simplistic person, this is the only place that the president gave permission to build a statue of himself while he was alive.
There is also a temple was built in 2005 on the occasion of his 115th birthday and to mark the 50th anniversary of his visit, and the site was recognized as a national historical and cultural vestige by the culture ministry. Tourists usually visit the site and light incense here when they first set foot on the island.
If you are an adventure enthusiast, you could hire the motorbike and explore the other interesting places on the island. Additionally, in the South East of the Island, the wonderful cliffs and My bridge are also attractive places for people who love adventure and photograph with wonderful and wild scenery.
